Your 'reputation' stalked you
like tyrannosaurus rex —
all teeth and tail
and silly thalidomide hands.

It burst from oblivion
with the death rattle of the lunch trolley,
eyes unblinking,
claws as neutral to their task as cutlery.

On the white plate
there is no hiding place.
